Apartment Categories

At Skyline Serviced Apartments we offer a range of options, accommodation types and specifications to meet the needs of any kind of mobile assignment from business travel to full relocation.

We are continually evolving and developing new solutions to meet client’s demands and local legislation.

Today corporate accommodation available in the sector can be typically divided into three broad categories:

  • Corporate housing/serviced apartments
  • Residences
  • Extended stay aparthotels

Depending on the operator, brand or region, some individual accommodations may straddle more than one category or go by another name i.e. ‘condohotel’.

With a combination of space, comfort, privacy, flexibility and range of facilities, it’s easy to see why corporate accommodation is rapidly gaining popularity over hotels among assignees and business travellers.

Corporate Housing

(also known as Serviced Apartments, Serviced Housing, Corporate Apartments, Serviced Accommodation, Corporate Accommodation)

Corporate housing and/or serviced apartments generally offer the most spacious floor space, freedom and privacy with the real sense of home that longer stay travellers, assignees and their families often seek.

This high-end accommodation often has a minimum stay requirement and is usually located in apartment buildings also occupied by permanent residents, with selected units reserved for corporate flexible accommodation.

The apartments are normally serviced weekly which includes cleaning and a linen and towel change. We can also arrange more frequent cleaning and other additional services to meet clients’ requirements.

Local neighbourhood facilities, i.e. shops, restaurants, schools, parks, cinemas, theatres, etc are often in close proximity offering clients a variety of things to do and see.

Some apartment buildings also have a reception or concierge run by the building’s operator, providing any further information about the surrounding area.

(also known as Serviced Residences)

With a residence guests can enjoy a blend of a hotel’s facilities with the privacy, amenities and freedom of corporate housing and is suitable for both long-term and short-term stays.

Residences are located in branded buildings usually offering a reception, fitness facilities, a restaurant or café and lounge area as well as housekeeping and regular linen changes.

More spacious than hotel rooms these apartments are well designed each with a fully equipped kitchen and appliances.

Depending on the location there may be a minimum stay requirement.

(also known as Apartment Hotel, Extended Stay, Suites)

Aparthotels offer well-presented but compact spaces that combine a living room, bedroom and kitchenette. Often only slightly larger than the average hotel room aparthotel accommodation is generally available as studios or one-bedroom apartments in towns or city centres.

While onsite services usually include a 24-hour reception, communal lounge areas, breakfast, fitness facilities and daily housekeeping, aparthotels tend to somewhat lack the residential feel, freedom and home comforts that appeals to people relocating or on extended assignments.

The smaller kitchenettes can limit guests’ cooking opportunities and laundry facilities are available onsite rather than in room and possibly at additional cost.

Booking terms are relatively flexible around clients’ needs and there are usually no fixed contracts or minimum stay. In some cases only 24 hours’ notice is required to make a cancellation.

Together such features make aparthotels often better suited to infrequent, shorter stays where a hotel room may have been a consideration.
